News and Updates
We would like to warmly welcome all new children to Newtongrange Primary School and are looking forward to meeting you and your child. Although there will be changes to our usual transition process due to the current Covid restrictions, we will be working within the guidelines to ensure a smooth transition from nursery to school.
P1 Induction
In Midlothian all Early Years settings and primary schools are working together on a joint transition project. Mid Mouse is a community based transition project which will help to support your child as they move from their home & early learning & childcare setting into school. Each child will be gifted a mouse which can be used as an object to support and share their journey. Every school and early learning and childcare setting will also have a mouse, similar to your child’s. Mid mouse will be a part of this special time of change for your child and can be with them every step of the way. Between now and the end of term, we will posting the stories your child is enjoying in their ELC setting, as part of this project along with some activities to do at home.
Over the coming weeks, more information to support with your child’s transition to school will be posted on this page. We hope that the vast majority of the questions that you may have will be answered through this and our starting school induction pack (coming soon!).
